Application - Apply online or download for mail/fax. Interview - Interview with the Director of Volunteer Services. References - Obtain two positive references from a community organization membership, employment or individual recommendation. PPD - Have a negative tuberculin test documented by a physician, health department, hospital nursing department prior to entering the program. Maintain a yearly update. Uniform - While on duty, dress in complete uniform as stated in orientation manual. Orientation - Attend two orientation sessions: Volunteer services orientation including fire safety and infection orientation conducted by Nursing Education. Documented yearly infection control update required. Service - Active adult volunteers are expected to work four and one-half hours per week, not including 45 minutes meal time. Adult volunteers are expected to contribute 50 hours of service yearly to retain active status. Attendance/Absenteeism - Volunteers play a crucial role in the function and teamwork of the hospital. Regular attendance is expected. If it is necessary to be absent, volunteers are expected to attempt to secure a replacement and notify the volunteer office as early as possible. Benefits - Volunteers receive free parking, birthday gift shop discounts, and meal vouchers worth $3.00 redeemable in the cafeteria on the day issued to volunteers who work four and one half hours, not including meal time. Recognition - Volunteers are awarded a volunteer service emblem for their first 50 hours of service, a rocker for an additional 100 hours until they reach a total of 500 hours, after which rockers are issued in increments of 500 hours. An annual awards function will honor all active volunteers. Conduct - All volunteers are expected to exhibit conduct that expresses respect for the residents, family members, visitors and staff in accord with the policies of Lake Taylor Transitional Care Hospital. |
